For the second consecutive year, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), SM Prime Holdings Inc., and ARISE Philippines joined forces to stage the Sustainability Expo 2026 (SUSTEX 2026) on 05 August 2026 at the SMX Convention Center Aura in Taguig City.

The event will bring together innovators, industry leaders, policymakers, the academe, and communities to showcase collaborative solutions that advance sustainable development and climate resilience through science, technology, and innovation.

Anchored on the theme, "Bayanihan Innovation for a Green and Resilient Philippines," the whole-day expo will feature plenary forums, expert lectures, technology exhibits, and interactive displays that showcases the latest local innovations that address pressing environmental and development challenges.

Among the highlights were cutting-edge technologies, circular economy initiatives, sustainable energy solutions, and disaster risk reduction innovations. The expo also underscores the importance of cross-sector collaboration in accelerating the country's transition towards an innovation-driven but greener technologies and products for a more resilient future.

"Last year, I challenged everyone to move beyond commitments and demonstrate real, measurable action. Today, that challenge evolves into a shared responsibility—because building a green and resilient Philippines is not the work of one sector alone, but through the bayanihan spirit powered by science, technology, and innovation,” said DOST Secretary Renato U. Solidum Jr.

He underscored that breakthroughs in clean and efficient energy, advances in the circular economy, and innovations that enhance disaster resilience achieve their greatest impact when government, industry, academia, and communities unite in collaboration.

“Sustainability is not merely about safeguarding the future; it is about empowering every Filipino to take part in building it today. Through SUSTEX 2026 and the spirit of Bayanihan for Innovation, we can turn bold ideas into transformative solutions that uplift our communities, strengthen our economy, and ensure a more resilient and sustainable future for generations to come.”

In support of the theme, the DOST, together with its research and development institutes and partner higher education institutions, will showcase science and technology innovations that promote sustainability, clean energy, disaster resilience, and smart mobility at the exhibit area of the SMX Convention Center Aura. Featured technologies include:

 E-Trike (Electric Tricycle) – A compact, energy-efficient 6+1 electric vehicle designed to provide clean, accessible, and low-emission community transportation. It reduces fuel dependency and vehicle emissions while offering an affordable and sustainable mobility solution for local governments and commuters.

 C-Trike (Converted Electric Tricycle) – A practical electric conversion technology that transforms conventional tricycles into cleaner, battery-powered public transport without replacing the entire vehicle. It extends the life of existing tricycles while reducing fuel consumption, lowering emissions, and promoting sustainable mobility.

 Standardized Battery Packaging for Battery Swapping Light Fleet Electric Vehicles – A secure and scalable battery-swapping system that allows compatible electric vehicles to quickly replace depleted batteries instead of waiting to recharge. It minimizes downtime, improves operational efficiency, and supports the wider adoption of electric transportation.

 E-Tranvia – An all-electric 18-seater tourist tram that provides clean, quiet, and sustainable transportation in heritage and tourism destinations. It offers a greener travel experience while helping preserve cultural landmarks and promote sustainable tourism.

Charging in Minutes (CharM) – is a smart EV charging solution that delivers a full charge in under 60 minutes while monitoring voltage and temperature for safe and efficient operation. Designed for malls, offices, and EV-ready establishments, it makes electric vehicle charging faster, more convenient, and more accessible.

Electric Passenger Ferry for Inland Waterways – A battery-powered ferry designed to provide clean, quiet, and sustainable transportation across rivers and other inland waterways. It reduces emissions, supports greener water transport, and helps protect the environment for future generations.

Portable Power Generation Based on Gasification of Municipal Solid Waste and Agricultural Biomass – A portable waste-to-energy system that converts municipal solid waste and agricultural biomass into clean and reliable electricity. It improves waste management while providing an alternative power source for remote and disaster-affected communities.

WEHLO (Localized Weather, Environment, and Hydromet Monitoring System) – is a smart monitoring system that delivers real-time, hyperlocalized weather, environmental, and watershed data through low-maintenance sensor networks. It enables local governments and disaster response teams to make faster, data-driven decisions for disaster preparedness and risk reduction.

USHER (Universal Structural Health Evaluation and Recording System) – is a smart structural health monitoring system that provides real-time building data and automated post-earthquake assessments. It supports faster decision-making, improves compliance, and helps protect lives, infrastructure, and communities.

LESSTICS Inc. – is an innovative startup that transforms single-use plastics into durable and eco-friendly construction materials. By upcycling plastic waste into sustainable roofing tiles and other building products, it reduces plastic pollution while supporting a circular economy.
