November 19, 2024, Manila, Philippines—The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) celebrated a new era of innovation with the launch of the DOST-PCCI Technology, Business, and Innovation Hub at the PCCI Headquarters, Commerce and Industry Plaza, McKinley Town Center, Fort Bonifacio Taguig City. This pioneering Hub marks a milestone in the Philippines' drive toward a knowledge-driven, innovation-led economy.

The launch event was led by DOST Secretary Renato U. Solidum, Jr. and PCCI President Consul Enunina V. Mangio, alongside PCCI Chairman Emeritus Sergio R. Ortiz-Luis Jr., PCCI Executive Vice President and Director for Science, Technology, and Innovation Ferdinand "Perry" Ferrer, DOST Undersecretary Sancho Mabborang, DOST Assistant Secretary Dr. Napoleon Juanillo, Jr., and other distinguished members of the PCCI Board, diplomatic corps, and local chambers.

The DOST-PCCI Technology, Business, and Innovation Hub emerges from a landmark collaboration between DOST and PCCI, providing a dynamic space where the nation’s top minds in science, technology, and business can collaborate. “This Hub will bridge research and industry, turning scientific discoveries into market-ready solutions that meet urgent societal needs,” said PCCI President Consul Enunina V. Mangio. “It is not just a center but a launchpad for ideas, partnerships, and innovations that will establish the Philippines on the global stage.”

Alongside the Hub, DOST and PCCI also introduced the Philippine Technology Business Alliance, an initiative designed to create robust partnerships across government, academia, research, and industry. This Alliance will drive strategic collaborations through workshops, policy dialogues, exhibitions, and networking events, facilitating breakthrough innovations that will propel the country’s industries to new heights of competitiveness and relevance.

Together, the DOST-PCCI Technology, Business, and Innovation Hub and the Philippine Technology Business Alliance send a powerful message to the world: the Philippines is not only open for business but poised to lead. As the Hub and Alliance grow, they will become beacons of innovation, tackling humanity’s greatest challenges while opening doors to vast opportunities.

Adding momentum to this transformative journey, DOST is set to launch Program PROPEL on December 4, 2024. This flagship initiative is dedicated to advancing the commercialization of groundbreaking Filipino innovations by equipping startups and MSMEs with integrated access to DOST’s vast resources. PROPEL will be a pathway to bring science and technology-driven products to market, paving the way for Filipino innovations to thrive locally and globally.
