The Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)will showcase the best of its agri-aqua research and development (R&D) outputs generated from 2010 to 2016in an event dubbed as SIPAG FIESTA on March 2 to 4.

Department of Science and Technology Secretary Mario G. Montejo greets student-participants to the Science Nation Tour, a national roadshow that aims to make communities “feel” science through various activities relevant to different sectors of the society. The roadshow runs Feb. 16-18 and will feature launches of various projects, visits, fora, technology demonstration, inventors’ contest, exhibits, and others. According to DOST XII Regional Director, Dr. Zenaida P. HR Laidan (left), DOST XII will supplement the event of not just informative and enlightening but also amusing and entertaining S&T activities for the people to enjoy while learning and being kept abreast of S&T developments. The Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) Science Nation Tour: Agham na Ramdam makes its Western Visayas stop in Iloilo City, the Philippines’ “City of Love,” from February 22-24, 2016.
Science Nation Tour is a nationwide roadshowwhich aims to showcase DOST-developed scientific and technological advancements in every region of the country and make every Juan and Maria feel the impact of science and technology in their daily lives, hence the tagline “AghamnaRamdam”.

Road Train, You’re My Kind of Ride

The DOST Hybrid Electric Road Train participated in the Bayanihan sa Daan Movement road sharing exercise on February 7, 2016 as it went on a 5.5 kilometer demo run from the SM Mall of Asia grounds to the Luneta Park and back. Bayanihan sa Daan showcased the idea of sharing the road using highly efficient alternative mass transport system like the DOST Road Hybrid Electric Road Train, a Filipino developed mass transport vehicle that runs both on diesel fuel and electricity using a 300kVA generator with 260 motor vehicle batteries.
