The science and technology interventions for the indigenous community of Aetas in Barangay Banoyo, San Luis, Batangas continues!
Women members of the Aeta community were trained in the basic course on sewing as a kick-off activity for the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-funded solar-powered sewing services enterprise that ran from 31 January to 01 February 2022.

The Electoral Boards (EBs), used to be known as Board of Election Inspectors (BEIs), are composed of teachers from the Department of Education (DepEd) who are chosen based on the criteria of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC). They're the real players when it comes to Election Day. However, before being deployed to the ‘battlefield’, they must complete a series of training programs, including the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Certification Program.

DOST-MIMAROPA aids Romblon’s S&T committee with waste management of the marble industry

The Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) Committee of Romblon, Romblon started identifying STI-related programs and initiatives, one of which is the enhancement of the existing marble industry in the municipality, in a coordination meeting held last January 27 January 2022 at the Romblon Old Municipal Building, Romblon, Romblon.
The committee and the DOST-MIMAROPA Provincial S&T Center in Romblon (PSTC-Romblon) discussed municipal gaps and opportunities in the province including the utilization and management of marble wastes such as marble dust. DOST-MIMAROPA, for its part, will also perform a consultative and advisory function to the STI committee.

Nuclear medicine centre to rise at DOST-PNRI

The Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (PNRI) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) today laid the grounds for the construction of a nuclear medicine center that will help make cancer diagnosis and treatment more affordable.
Nuclear medicine refers to a medical imaging that uses small amounts of radioactive materials called radiopharmaceuticals. Injected to a patient, these radiophramaceuticals produce images and are tracked by physicians through the use of specially designed cameras. Images of target tissues produced by these radiopharmaceuticals help physicians diagnose or treat a variety of diseases, including many types of cancers, heart diseases, and certain other abnormalities within the body.
