NorMin Food Handlers Join Food Safety Webinar from DOST-X

In the time of pandemic, it is very important to safeguard our health and one way to do this is to ensure that the food we consume are clean and safe to eat.
The Department of Science and Technology in Region X conducted a Food Safety Awareness Webinar for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Northern Mindanao on 10 July 10 2020.
There were 54 participants coming from different parts in Northern Mindanao who attended the webinar through the Google Meet Online Platform, thus enabling the entrepreneurs to learn and at the same time remain safe from COVID-19.
The webinar's primary objective is to earn and strengthen consumer trust in Food Safety amidst the pandemic.

Zamboanga Sibugay gets P1.4M agri and food processing assistance from DOST-IX

Representatives of farmers’ associations receive financial assistance for agricultural and food processing project from DOST-IX PSTC ZSP Director Jennifer A. Pidor and personnel.
Two (2) farmers’ associations in Zamboanga Sibugay recently received S&T grant amounting to ₱1,408,500 from the Department of Science and Technology Region IX (DOST-IX) for the development of the groups’ food processing capabilities.

Laguna LGU to mass-produce DOST-FPRDI’s bamboo-framed face shield

The Forest Products Research and Development Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-FPRDI) and the local government of Cabuyao City recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the mass production of bamboo-framed face shields to augment the need for personal protective equipment for frontliners battling COVID-19.
Under the MOA, the DOST-FPRDI will provide the design, specifications and other requirements needed to produce the face shields. It will also give technical assistance on steam bending, the process wherein the bamboo strips for the frame are subjected to heat to flex them and become pliable to the desired form.
