Momsie, FNRI’s newest ready-to-use complementary food for kids 6 months to 3 years old.

The Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) under the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) presented its latest product, Momsie, last July 26, 2014 during the 2014 National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex.

Developed through a partnership between FNRI and the World Food Programs, Momsie is a ready-to-use complementary food for children from 6 months to 3 years old. It is high in energy and protein and has a rich nutty chocolate flavour. Its ingredients are locally available raw materials like mongo, soybeans, peanuts, and among others, which were roasted, dried, and ground.

The Pinggang Pinoy, a healthy food plate for Filipino adults was presented and explained by Ma. Jovina A. Sandoval, science research specialist II of the Department of Science and Technology’s Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI), during the 2014 National Science and Technology Week last July 26, 2014 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex.

A nationwide competition among MSMEs or micro, small and medium enterprises with packaging innovations from DOST, the awards highlight the critical role of packaging in business operations.
