The magic and wonder of robotics will be one of the major features on Day Four of the National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) as the Department of Science and Technology’s Philippine Science High School (DOST-PSHS) System holds a one-day Robotics and Interactive Science Exhibit entitled “Pisay, maka-Science dito!” on July 27, 2015 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Main Stage of the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

Students from different PSHS regional campuses will be showcasing their robotics and interactive science inventions to the public for a day of learning, fun, and amazement.

The event is one of the activities lined up for this year’s NSTW – an annual celebration of DOST featuring exhibits, product displays, talks and fora on science and technology, competitions, product launchings, local inventions and outstanding Filipino scientists.

Also an integral part of NSTW is “Grassroots S&T Program: Working with the Community in Developing S&T Enthusiasts,” participated in by selected 20 elementary students and 20 high school students from Barangay Pag-asa, Quezon City. For this activity, the PSHS System will bring the students to the SMX Convention Center on July 27 for them to view the DOST exhibits and attend the career-related talk, after which they will be brought to the Manila Ocean Park to view Clash of Class, a series of science competitions among high school students.

The objectives of the activity are to enhance the science experience of the students, inform the community of the different DOST-related programs and projects that they can avail, and create possible linkages between the community and other DOST-affiliated institutions.

The PSHS System aims to expose Barangay Pag-Asa to NSTW and hopefully encourage the youngsters to pursue science courses in the future.

NSTW will run from July 24-28, 2015. Admission is free. For more information, log on to www.nstw.dost.gov.ph and www.science.ph.  #nstw2015  #dostph  #roboticsphilippines   #studentrobotics  (S&T Media Service)
