(Top) A young man has his blood pressure taken for free using the RxBox in the ongoing 2015 National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) organized by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) at SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.  A project of the UP Manila-National Telehealth Center and DOST’s Philippine Council for Health Research and Development, RxBox is a portable medical device for taking a patient’s ECG, heart rate, blood, pulse rate, and blood oxygenation. It allows medical experts to assist in the management of patients in rural areas thru video consultation and by storing patient data and transmitting this info via the Internet. The technology is one of many being showcased in NSTW which runs until July 28, 2015. For more information, log on to www.nstw.dost.gov.ph and www.science.ph. (S&T Media Service)
