news-handloom weaving machine levels up courtesy of dost-07272015

The traditional handloom weaving machine sports a new and sleek design as modified by the Department of Science and Technology’s Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) using a mixture of metal and wood that makes it more efficient in weaving the web of life using natural dyed fibers from abaca, banana and other plant materials. This is featured in the PTRI booth at the National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) which will run until July 28, 2015 at SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. Another innovation exhibited is the PTRI Innovation Center that showcases modern textile and fiber dye technologies. NSTW 2015 is open from 9:00am to 6:00pm and admission is free.
