Students and young professionals alike gather around a booth of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) featuring a user-friendly digital science library during the National Biotechnology Week (NBW) 2015 which runs until November 28 in SM Dasmariñas, Cavite. Called STARBOOKS (Science and Technology Academic and Research-based Openly Operated Kiosks), the digital library is a repository of science and technology information, and does not need Internet connection. A product of DOST’s Science and Technology Information Institute, STARBOOKS received the American Library Association Presidential Citation for Innovative International Library Projects in July 2015. At present, STARBOOKS stations are located in various schools and public libraries around the country.
