Grade 6 students who want to take the Philippine Science High School System’s (PSHS) National Competitive Examination (NCE) for Grade 7 for school year 2017-2018 can now avail themselves of applications forms, the Philippine Science High School said.

During the Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) from July 25-29, 2016, representatives from PSHS, or Pisay, will be manning a booth at DOST-PAGASA to distribute NCE application forms to interested students.

With 16 campuses all over the Philippines, Pisay offers a specialized curriculum in science and mathematics to prepare its students for collegiate courses and careers in S & T and sustain the country’s pool of scientists, engineers, IT experts, and technopreneurs. PSHS also provides scholarships to students with high aptitude in science and math.

Pisay’s information caravan for the NCE began in April 2016 and continues in every region of the country. The distribution of NCE application forms in PAGASA is part of this info caravan as well as of the NSTW line-up of activities.

NSTW is an annual celebration of DOST wherein local technologies, innovations, and products with applications that cut across different sectors – from agriculture and health to education and disaster management – are showcased to the public to generate a greater awareness and appreciation of S&T’s impact in national development.

For 2016, NSTW is separately held in Quezon City, Manila, Bicutan, and Los Baños, dubbed as Science Communities. Located along AGHAM Road in Quezon City, PAGASA will be the center of NSTW events in the QC area. The QC Science Community also includes PSHS which will also mount a historical exhibit of the school since the main campus opened in QC in 1964.  The exhibit, held at the lobby of the PSHS System Administrative Building and Training Center along AGHAM Road, is free and open to the public.

NSTW celebrations are also ongoing in the DOST regional offices as well.

The activities include exhibits, product launches, livelihood technology forums, film showings, facility tours, techno demos, food tasting, and others. Admission is free in all venues.
