The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) will hold its first Technology Transfer Day on 27 April 2016 at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila to showcase locally developed technologies spearheaded and supported by the Department.

With the theme “PROMISE: Promoting Research and Outstanding Milestones in Innovation and Science for Entrepreneurship”, the DOST Technology Transfer Day opens promising opportunities for enterprises and organizations to invest on Filipino technologies in the areas of agricultural productivity, industry competitiveness, countryside development, environment and disaster risk reduction management, and quality healthcare. Participants will get to hear from the innovators behind these technologies and initiate partnerships for technology transfer and adoption. Several enterprises will also share their positive experiences on how Filipino technologies helped revolutionize their businesses.

The Technology Transfer Day is an initiative of the DOST as part of its mandate to ensure Filipino technologies are maximized for the benefit of society and of our local industries, as guided by Republic Act 10055 or the Philippine Technology Transfer Act of 2009. The Technology Application and Promotion Institute(TAPI), one of the organizers of the event and the DOST’s lead agency for technology transfer, encourages event participants to make the most of the solutions offered by homegrown technologies.

“The DOST Technology Transfer Day is a showcase of our successes in making Filipino science and technology more relevant and responsive to the needs of our Filipino industries,”TAPI Director Engr. Edgar I. Garcia said.

“We hope that through this event, the DOST and our partners in the science and technology community and public and private sectors will commit to continuously working together to promote transfer and adoption of proudly Pinoyinnovations into the mainstream market,” Engr. Garcia added.
