Science researchers of the Department of Science and Technology - National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) will have a convergence on the 22nd of March 2017 for the DOST-NRCP’s Annual Scientific Conference and 84th General Membership Assembly at the Reception Hall, Philippine International Convention Center, Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City.
This year’s theme is “Philippine Development: Foregrounding Ethical and Moral Values.” Keynote speaker is Rev. Fr. Albert E. Alejo, Ph.D., SJ, a social ethicist and anthropologist of the School of Theology, Ateneo De Manila University.
The event likewise includes lectures by select experts in parallel sessions on four sub-topics: (1) Ethical and Moral Values in Educational, Political, and Cultural Life: A Second Look; (2) Value-laden Technology Development and Disclosure of Risks in Science and Innovation (Speaker: Dr. Marita V. T. Reyes Former Dean, UP College of Medicine); (3) Duality of Science: Who Calls the Shots? Resource Speaker: Dr. Angeles Tan-Alora Infectious Disease Expert, University of Santo Tomas Hospital and (4) Bioethics and the Marginalized Sector: Who Draws the Line? (Speaker: Dr. Jaime C. Montoya, Director, Philippine Council for Health Research and Development).
