Senator Cynthia A. Villar (right) talked on zero-waste production and sustainable consumption and production patterns at the National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) forum called “Waste = Resources to Inclusive Circular Economy.” Held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) on 19-20 July 2018, two-day event highlights the importance of shifting from a linear economy (produce, use, decompose) towards a circular economy. The latter is an alternative model that maximizes waste products to be used as resources for product generation. Invited speakers from the textile, business, and environment sectors shared their own efforts and best practices.
