Adapting to the “new normal” amidst COVID-19, the Department of Science and Technology-X (DOST-X) is set to conduct the Manufacturing Productivity Extension Program (MPEX) through virtual consultation to 25 selected firms in the region for the whole month of June.
The MPEX program involves the deployment of industry experts, productivity specialists, and other technical experts to assist Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the manufacturing sector. These consultants will provide recommendations for improvement of the firms’ overall operations to achieve higher productivity.
The MPEX technical consultants and experts who come mainly from the academe and the private sectors were accredited by the DOST through the Subject Matter Specialist Program.
The MPEX team will first assess the product design and packaging, materials used, processes and operations, machines and equipment used, plant and other facilities, layouts, production planning and control system, quality control system, overall organization, and human resource utilization. The team will then carry out an in-depth analysis of the selected productivity improvement concerns and formulate recommendations for implementation by the firm-beneficiary.
The completion of each productivity consultancy shall be for six (6) months from contract signing. The six-month period includes the one (1) month duration for the installation of recommendations. The team will submit a technical report at the end of the consultancy; documenting the assessment, analysis, recommendations made, and evaluation.
Interested firms may directly send their application to DOST-X or through the Provincial Science and Technology Centers (PSTCs) nearest your area. (Shevanie E.
