The COVID-19 pandemic has affected our ways of doing things and almost everything went online. The digital platform has become highly relevant for many sectors, from teaching, learning, working, training, and even in doing business.
To raise awareness and help netizens on the proper use of the tools, resources, and online platforms in the New Normal, the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office XI (DOST XI) will launch the “Digital Tayo” webinar series as part of the post-Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) virtual celebration in Davao Region.
First on the webinar series is “Digital Empowerment” which will be held on November 19, 2021 from 2- 3:30PM via Zoom platform and Facebook Live. This webinar is open to the public including students who are encouraged to join and learn the effective and responsible use of social media platforms in promoting advocacies and empower the different sectors of the society. Stephen Ong of the Department of Education will be the resource speaker for the event.
This is followed by the webinar titled “Digital Engagement” on the following week which aims to educate the public, especially the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSMEs), business owners, and aspiring entrepreneurs in engaging with different clients and potential customers and collaborators with the aim of increasing client reach and establishing healthy online relationships. The webinar will be conducted on November 26, 2021 at 2-3:30PM.
“With more and more people spending longer hours using the Internet, it is crucial in this digital era to promote digital literacy and take advantage of these online platforms to engage, learn, and create safe spaces and positive online experiences amidst the pandemic,” explained DOST XI Regional Director Anthony C. Sales.
Digital Tayo is Facebook's digital literacy program in the Philippines designed to build a community of responsible digital citizens.
