The Science and Technology Information Institute (STII), the information and marketing arm of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) received two Grand Starex 2.5 CRDi GLS 5AT from Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. as donations to be used for the operations of the institute’s official broadcast channel, DOSTv.

The formal turnover ceremony was held on 24 November 2021, 9:00 AM, at the DOST-STII Office in Bicutan, Taguig City.

DOSTv: Science for the People, an award-winning broadcast channel and included in the 2021 National Priority Plan of the National Economic and Development Authority, has been producing different programs for the past six years, namely: DOST Report, ExperTalk Online, SineSiyensya, Balitang RapiDOST, and Bantay Bulkan, among others. All these programs aim to bring all the innovative programs, products, and services developed by the DOST agencies and regional offices closer to every Filipino.

“We are very grateful to Hyundai (Asia Resources) for supporting and believing what DOST-STII, especially DOSTv, is doing to provide avenues and platforms for our innovators, researchers, and scientists to share their stories and essence of their works and services for the benefit of every Filipino. The turnover ceremony of the two Grand Starex vehicles would serve to jumpstart numerous possible collaborations, particularly in promoting the culture of science, technology, and innovation in the country,” said DOST-STII Director Richard P. Burgos.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc., is well-known for its corporate social responsibility and for its dedication to improving the mobility of Filipinos through its constant pursuit of customer-driven innovations.

Through the donations, Hyundai will also enjoy the benefits of supporting a project that is part of the NEDA National Priority Plan and, in return, the company can avail of tax benefits equivalent to the price of the donated vehicles.

“This engagement signals our renewed support for DOST’s Filipinnovation which could be more relevant in these new normal times. We put these two reliable motor vehicles to serve DOSTv and help them to touch more lives and bring science to many more Filipinos and engage in more relevant ways, which is the essence of Filipinnovation,” said Victor Jose S. Vela, senior assistant vice president for sales and distribution.

Norly B. Villar, chief of DOST-STII’s Communication Resources and Production Division, said that the vehicles donated by Hyundai will indeed be beneficial in the day-to-day operations of our DOSTv team as we bring science information to the people. He added that more than the contribution, the expression of generosity of Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc., is very special in a way that it is symbolic of the synergy between government institutions and strong businesses like Hyundai in pursuing common goals that will have a great impact on society.
