EdukSine Production Corporation, a pioneering force in the realm of film distribution and cultural preservation, is honored to announce its recognition as the Grand Winner and Circle of Excellence Award of the Sprout Solutions Technology Company of the Year at the prestigious Asia CEO Awards 2023 and bested big tech companies like Dyson and GoTyme Bank. This esteemed business awards event, celebrating the contributions of industry leaders to the Philippines' dynamic economy, took place on 24 October 2023 at the Manila Marriott Hotel.
The award was shared by EdukSine to the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) during a courtesy visit to DOST Secretary Renato U. Solidum Jr. on 31 October 2023 at the DOST Conference Room in Bicutan, Taguig City.
Officials and co-founders of EdukSine led by Karen Jane Salutan, EdukSine's CEO and Founder (via Zoom), presented to Sec. Solidum their trophies and expressed their gratitude for the assistance they received from DOST-PCIEERD under the project titled Women-Helping-Women: Innovating Social Enterprises (WHWise) program.
During the said engagement, Sec. Solidum extended his congratulations to the team of EdukSine for their innovativeness and urged the social enterprise to continue thinking of different products and further expand their reach especially students and parents and to inspire the youth to go into STEM courses through science-related films that they are distributing through the livestreaming platform.
Incidentally, EdukSine is also one of the partners of the Science and Technology Information Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-STII), where the former provides their digital platform for the science programs of the DOSTv like Siyensikat and Sinesyensya to be shown. DOSTv is the flagship broadcast channel of the DOST, managed and operated by DOST-STII, that has also reaped several prestigious awards from the Catholic Mass Media Awards and the Anvil Awards, aside from being included in the National Priority Plan of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA).
EdukSine's remarkable achievement as the grand winner in the Sprout Solutions Technology Company of the Year category underlines their commitment to innovation, cultural preservation, and socio-economic development. This award recognizes the corporation's innovative use of information and communication technology, biotechnology, and related sciences, propelling it to the forefront of the technology sector.
Furthermore, EdukSine has made a profound impact on the cultural and educational landscape of the Philippines through its pioneering block screening streaming platform. By utilizing scientific, technical, and engineering expertise, EdukSine democratizes access to independent Filipino films, bridging geographic divides and bringing educational and socially relevant content to remote communities. This approach not only revolutionizes film distribution but also empowers independent filmmakers and industry professionals.
The platform's unique blend of artistic expression and technological innovation has created sustainable livelihoods for the creative community and enriched our understanding of Philippine identity and unity. EdukSine's transformative impact extends to economic empowerment, making it a driving force in the creative economy.
The awards were presented to Sec. Solidum and DOST-PCIEERD Executive Director Enrico C. Paringit by Gloria Topue, EdukSine’s COO, along with Board Member Roger
Macua, Sales Head, Operations Head Nilo Magno, and Chief Technology Officer Jacob Catayoc.
In an earlier statement, Karen Jane Salutan, EdukSine's CEO and Founder, expressed her gratitude by saying, “We won because we have big, passionate and generous hearts and unselfishness, and we did not build a startup to be famous but to serve our community, bless and touch people's lives through films and help solve the film distribution problems in the film industry.” (30)
