The Department of Science and Technology-Science and Technology Information Institute (DOST-STII) earned third place in the 2024 DOST GAD Mainstreaming Awards.
During the DOST Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point Assembly at the Limketkai Center, Cagayan de Oro City on November 30, 2024, DOST-STII was among the agencies recognized in the Attached Agencies Category.
The annual awards recognize the efforts of DOST and its attached agencies and regional offices in advancing gender mainstreaming in the public service.
The DOST-STII’s success reflects its continued dedication to ensuring equal opportunities for individuals to contribute to science, technology, and innovation development in the Philippines.
Winners were evaluated based on four entry points of the Gender Mainstreaming Evaluation Framework (GMEF): Policy, People, Enabling Mechanism, and Programs, Activities, and Projects (PAPs), with each contributing 25% to the overall score. The winners in each category were as follows:

- 1st Place: DOST-Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration

PSHS Campus Category:
- 1st Place: PSHS Central Mindanao Campus
- 2nd Place: PSHS SOCCSKSARGEN Region Campus

The award was received by DOST-STII’s GAD Focal Point System members, Ms. Ma. Lotuslei P. Dimagiba and Mr. Benedict P. Caganaan.
DOST-STII focused on foundational initiatives, maintaining a Sex-Disaggregated Database, participating in national campaigns like Women's Month and the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women, and conducting orientations on Gender-Based Sexual Harassment.
The institute advanced its efforts by implementing a gender-neutral restroom and a Mother and Child Care Center, launched webinars on Gender and Development, and featured female scientists on social media and DOSTv programs. The Agency also institutionalized Gender Sensitivity Training and trained staff in using the Gender Fair Language Checker Tool to promote a culture of gender respect and equality in its communications.
This recognition highlights DOST-STII’s leadership in creating an inclusive environment, where people can equally contribute to the progress of STI in the Philippines.
