We are pleased to announce that the 2024 Joint Research Project Call for Proposals between Department of Science and Technology (DOST) of the Republic of the Philippines and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of the People’s Republic of China is now open.
In pursuit of cooperation between the DOST and the MOST of the People’s Republic of China, we are calling for mutually beneficial and collaborative project proposals in any of the following identified priority areas:
(a) Health
- Medical Tissue Engineering
- Biomimetic material for medical use
(b) Agriculture
- Smart water management for high-value crops
- Agricultural mechanization
- Precision agriculture
(c) Energy and Industry
- Energy storage
- Green construction materials
(d) High Technology
- Artificial Intelligence
- Quantum Computing
A total of five (5) new projects can be approved during this call for proposals. DOST will provide annual funding of up to Php 5,000,000 for each approved research project while MOST will provide an annual funding of up to RMB 1,000,000 for the Chinese counterpart. Each project should have a maximum duration of two (2) years.

Interested parties are advised to coordinate with prospective counterpart/collaborator in China to craft the project proposals. The Filipino researcher must submit the capsule proposals to the respective DOST Council while the Chinese counterpart will submit the same to MOST for review and evaluation. Only capsule proposals that are endorsed for further submission of full-blown proposals will undergo technical review and possible approval by both DOST and MOST.

2023 Global Research Council Asia Pacific Regional Meeting
18 – 20 October 2023
The Global Research Council (GRC) regional meeting is an important gathering of research funding organizations used to discuss themes of common interest, establish new connections and collaborations, and advance the objectives of the organization as a whole. It will convene GRC participant research councils across the Asia Pacific Region. International organizations and research institutions from across the globe will also be invited as resource persons to share their views/ideas on top current and emerging regional issues. The DOST envisions that this meeting will promote communication among funders through understanding/sharing of practices and whenever possible, harmonization of processes such as but not limited to monitoring and evaluation (M&E) including terminologies/nomenclature/definitions to facilitate international partnerships.

We are pleased to announce the call for proposals for the 2024 Joint Research Program under the DOST- Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) cooperation.
This bilateral exchange program provides support for research to be conducted jointly by Filipino and Japanese researchers in line with their mutual agreement on international scientific collaboration.
Interested applicants are requested to coordinate with their prospective collaborator / counterpart in Japan to craft their proposals. The Filipino researcher must submit the proposal to DOST while the Japanese counterpart should submit the same to JSPS for separate review and evaluation. Only projects approved by both DOST and JSPS will be implemented under this program.
