“Walang namamatay sa lindol (Nobody dies from earthquake),” says Jeffrey S. Perez, a geologist from Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS). “Namamatay kapag nabagsakan ng mga gamit sa bahay. Kaya dapat, ngayon pa lang, i-check nyo na ang mga bahay nyo kung ano ang maaaring makaapekto sa inyo. (People dies when they get hit by falling objects. That is why as early as now, check the things in your house that might affect you).”

DOST council to hold research writing & goat production training in Baler, Aurora

The Department of Science and Technology- National Research Council of the Philippines (DOST-NRCP) will hold a back-to-back training at the Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) in Baler, Aurora on August 21-23, 2017. Day 1 of the workshop will be on Writing Research Proposal for selected ASCOT faculty, researchers, and students studying animal science, veterinary medicine, and agriculture. Day 2 will feature the Small Ruminant Production and Health Seminar with Rabies Awareness for selected members of local government units who are into small-hold production of small ruminants (goats).

DOST gives orphans a science day out

It’s a day out for these kids and what a spree indeed it was-- they learned more about the weather, earthquakes, and science and technology (S&T). The kids are residents of Boys Town, an institution where “homeless, abandoned, forgotten, and voluntarily surrendered children, teenagers, and senior citizens” are turned over for custody.
