Promoting the 2016 National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) through a mini-concert was one of the new things that happened for this year’s biggest S&T event. Through the partnership of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and with Enchanted Kingdom, the BOB Band staged a mini-concert at the Enchanted Kingdom Bandstand on July 16 and 23. In between songs and the rhythm of rain, DOST and the EK through the BOB Band infused fun and knowledge about the 2016 NSTW. (By Alexandria Dennise San Juan, S&T Media Service, DOST-STII)

Through this device, you can safeguard your homes and properties from thieves. According to young inventor Jericho Villarico of Baguio City High School, the “Auto-Call” device , when activated, can call the house owner through a mobile phone and can also take a picture of the intruder. Another device, invented by students from Isulan National High School, can automatically dispense feeds for chicks via a text message or alarm. The vibration caused by the text message or alarm triggers the feed storage to pour feeds into the fowl feeder. Many other interesting inventions of high school and college students, as well as utility models, industrial designs and other creations of full-fledge inventors, can be viewed until tomorrow, July 31, at the Hall 1 of the SMX Convention Hall in Pasay City. The exhibit, open to the public and free, is part of the 2016 National Invention Contest and Exhibit. (Framelia V. Anonas, S&T Media Service)
