Seventeen MSMEs in the Municipality of Ibaan, Batangas are now ready to improve their products’ packaging and label designs that are compliant to mandatory requirements and standards they learned from the Department and Science and Technology (DOST).
The DOST-CALABARZON experts led the training and one-on-one consultation with the proponents in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Ibaan, Batangas held recently at this municipality’s town hall.

1 out of 4 children in Mindanao are underweight

There is one out of four children in Mindanao found to be underweight. This was based on thenutrition survey results presented during the recently concluded Online Technology Forum for Bangsamoro Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) by the Department of Science and Technology – Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI).
The first 1,000 days of a child’s life, which begins in pregnancy, is critical because the damage is irreversible if the child does not get proper nutrition during this period, according to Lea B. Landicho, a science research analyst at DOST-FNRI.

DOST-XI trains trainers on Halal perspective in the industry

The Department of Science and Technology Regional Office XI (DOST-XI) held recently two-day Training on Halal Perspective in the Industry via Zoom to orient participants on the many opportunities that the halal industry offers.
A total of 75 participants, composed of personnel from various DOST Food Safety Teams (FST), Provincial Science and Technology Centers (PSTCs) and technical personnel of DOST Region XI and other DOST Regional Offices joined the event.
The objective of the activity was to equip the participants with the appropriate knowledge and skills on the Halal Concepts and Principles, Halal Assurance System (Philippine and Malaysian standards), and Halal Management System.
