The date 21 February 2021 (1:36 AM Philippine Standard Time) is now forever etched in the history of space science in the Philippines with the launch of the country’s second cube satellite, called Maya-2 CubeSat, that was developed by three Filipino student engineers.

“Our Lake Lanao from all sampling sites is still pristine; our water is still clean.”
This was disclosed by Fema M. Abamo, Ph.D., a professor of Mindanao State University in Marawi City, during her webinar presentation for the regional basic research caravan for Bicol, as conducted by the Department of Science and Technology-National Research Council of the Philippines (DOST-NRCP).

A Laguna-based agro-forest farm will soon learn the process of making antimicrobial soaps and hand mists developed by the Forest Products Research and Development Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-FPRDI) through the latter’s technology business incubation (TBI) program.

DOST-PCIEERD launches 8 new data science R&D projects for good governance

New data science research and development projects that enable good governance will soon be implemented to improve operations of national government agencies (NGAs) and local government units (LGUs) through the support of the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD).
Funded under the Good Governance through Data Science and Decision Support System (GODDESS) Program, these projects are geared towards addressing the gap in the country’s workforce for data scientists that enables and strengthens the government to adapt data-driven governance and evidence-based management.
DOST-PCIEERD Executive Director Dr. Enrico C. Paringit said the GODDESS Program is aimed at utilizing data to create innovations in running government operations and serving the people.
