DOST calls on HS studes to vie for the first nat’l Nuclear Science Olympiad

The Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (PNRI) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is calling Filipino Junior and Senior High School students, or those in Grades 9 to 12, from public or private secondary schools in the Philippines, to join the First Philippine Nuclear Science Olympiad (1st PNSO) to be held this December.
To qualify, participating students must not be more than18 years old and must not be in enrolled or admitted in a university/college by 7 August 2024. This is because the winners in the PNSO will vie in the First International Nuclear Science Olympiad (1st INSO) to be held in the country on 31 July to 07 August 2024. Like the PNSO, the INSO is open only to high school students.

DOST, PNRI researchers get gold, silver & special awards in Korean invention fair

Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-developed technologies slammed it out in the recently concluded Seoul International Invention Fair or SIIF 2023 held in Seoul, South Korea, held 01-04 Nov. 2023.
Bagging major awards are DOST-Philippine Nuclear Research Institute researchers who brought home gold and silver for the Hemostat Technology and Carrageenan Plant Growth Promoter (PGP), respectively.
Hemostat Technology also bagged two more special awards: Excellent Efforts in Creating an Invention by the Korea Invention Promotion Association (KIPA) and Best International Invention and Innovation by the National Research Council of Thailand.

DOST-ASTI: Removing doubts about AI

The phenomenon called Artificial Intelligence (AI) is now a reality that we need to address for our benefit.
The Department of Science and Technology-Advanced Science and Technology Institute (DOST-ASTI) hosted the ASTIg AI Tech Talks during the National Youth Science, Technology, and Innovation Festival last 28 October 2023,to give clarity and remove the doubts of students and professionals on using AI in our daily lives.
Palawan fisherfolks receive 66 fiberglass boats from DOST MIMAROPA under the Typhoon Odette Recovery Project

Taguig City (November 10, 2023)– The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) MIMAROPA Region and its partners provided fiberglass boats to beneficiaries of Typhoon Odette Recovery Project in a ceremonial turnover held at the Roxas Dome, Roxas, Palawan on 10 November 2023.
Fisherfolks from Roxas received 66 boats while beneficiaries from Dumaran received 75 boat hulls for their ongoing boat fabrication. Production of boats are also still in process for the municipalities of Araceli, Cagayancillo, San Vicente, and Taytay.
This is part of the agency’s Science and Technology Interventions project that aims to help in the fishing livelihood recovery of typhoon-affected fishing communities in the six municipalities.
