The Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-Region I conducted a two-day consultation meeting with the six (6) pilot municipalities of Pangasinan in relation to its innovation, Science, and Technology for Accelerating Regional Technology-Based Development (iSTART) program on 16-17 December 2021 at Dr. Telesforo N. Boquiren Convention Hall, Pangasinan State University-Lingayen Campus.

Ever wondered where Dr. Jose P. Rizal would be if he is alive today? And if he is a public servant, which government position will he hold? With his diverse background and interests, Dr. Rizal can be a secretary of any of the following departments: Education, Health, Agriculture, Social Welfare and Development, Foreign Affairs, and Science and Technology, according to experts gathered by the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) during the Rediscovering Rizal: A Commemoration of the 125th Martyrdom of the National Hero webcast held last 30 December 2021.

It’s Oras Pinas Time: DOST promotes synchronizing Ph time

It’s ORAS PINAS time again!
From January 1 to 7, 2022, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) leads in the observance of the 2022 National Time Consciousness Week with the theme, “Bangon Pinas para sa Bagong bukas: Sundin ang tamang oras” to synchronize all timepieces across the country. This advocacy to promote the new Pilipino time is in accordance to Republic Act No. 10535 or The Philippine Standard Time (PST) Act of 2013.

Rizal’s 3D-printed monument: An Instagrammable fusion of art, history, and science

Unlike most statues of Dr. Jose P. Rizal which often depict him as static, Rizal’s latest monument which stands on the grounds of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in Taguig City, and designed by Professor Jose Manuel Sicat of the University of the Philippines Diliman-College of Fine Arts, depicts him as having some interaction with children, in an artistic creation ideal for an Instagram post.
“Sa aking bersyon ni Jose Rizal nais kong ipakita ang kanyang mas ‘human side,” Sicat tells in a video interview shown during the Rizal, The Filipino Scientist virtual presser recently.
