In a world of emerging technologies, Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and its related terms such as artificial intelligence (AI), autonomy, and digital transformation can often be misunderstood due to their complexity and impact on traditional practices.
To help bring these technologies closer to the public, the Department of Science and Technology-Advanced Science and Technology Institute (DOST-ASTI), in celebration of its 37th Founding Anniversary, launched its first Advanced Science, Technology and Innovation Convention (ASTICon) at the Novotel Manila Araneta City in Quezon City on 18-19 July 2024.

The spotlight turns to science communicators as the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) brings back the Bantog Awards for Media and Science Communication with the theme “Driving Development through Science Communication.”
At a press conference held at the DOST-Science and Technology Information Institute (DOST-STII), DOST officials urged media practitioners and content creators to submit their science stories for the awards night scheduled for 10 September 2024.

DOST Central Office Recognized for Proficiency in Quality Management under the 26th Philippine Quality Award Assessment Cycle

Manila, Philippines - July 17, 2024 - The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Central Office has achieved a remarkable milestone by being recognized for "Proficiency in Quality Management (Level 2)" at the prestigious 26th Philippine Quality Award (PQA) conferment ceremony, held at the Malacañang Palace.
The Philippine Quality Award, the nation's highest recognition for performance excellence, parallels the esteemed Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Program of the United States. The award evaluates organizations across seven criteria: Leadership, Strategy, Customer, Measurement Analysis and Knowledge Management, Workforce, Operations, and Results.
DOST ‘FUELs’ health in PH with functional foods from sugarcane, pulses, and cacao

In a bid to advance health in the Philippines, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) introduces a research program on functional foods focusing on locally available agricultural commodities such as sugarcane, pulses, and cacao products, to enhance the health and well-being of Filipinos.
The DOST Niche Centers in the Regions (NICER) for R&D Program or DOST-NICER funded a research program with an approved budget of PhP190 Million, titled SPC-FUEL for Health, which stands for Sugarcane, Pulses, and Cacao Products from Functional Food Innovations to Enhance Life. This research program is implemented by the University of San Agustin (USA) in Iloilo City in collaboration with the University of St. La Salle (USLS) in Bacolod City.
