“Agham na Ramdam!” is the Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) mantra in making Filipinos feel and experience the impact of science and technology (S&T) in their daily lives. Now ii is the monicker of DOST’s latest information campaign, and is all set to rally the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) as DOST’s Science Nation Tour goes to Baguio City for its next leg on October 6-8, 2015.
Science Nation Tour is a national roadshow which aims to promote and expand DOST’s programs, projects and services in every region of the country.
DOST Secretary Mario G. Montejo will lead the campaign which aims to showcase DOST-developed scientific and technological advancements in the region.
The highlight of CAR’s Science Nation Tour is the inauguration of the Gold-Copper Processing Project in Itogon, Benguet – a collaboration between UP and DOST’s Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, Emerging Technology Research and Development.
Among the other activities are Sec. Montejo’s project visits to beneficiaries of DOST’s SETUP or Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program, in CAR. SETUP extends assistance to micro, small and medium enterprises through financial assistance, technology upgrade, and capability training. Among these project beneficiaries are Kerobee Farm, Green Salad, and TCY Machinery.
DOST-CAR will also name the region’s Science and Technology (S&T) Ambassadors during the Stakeholders’ Night at the CAP Convention Center in Camp John Hay on October 7. The S&T Ambassadors will support the Department in its advocacy and other programs and services.
Other activities in the event include a forum on DOST programs and blessing of the DOST-CAR Regional Office Extension Building. (S&T Media Service)
