The article that has been published in the Businessworld: Top 10 FDI Recipients, Northeast and Southeast Asia, 2014 (Posted on June 25, 2015) says that the Philippines has emerged as among the top foreign direct invest (FDI) destinations in East Asia. The Philippines climbed to 9th spot among the top 10 FDI recipients in East Asia with $6.2 billion inflows in 2014 from 10th place in 2013 with just $3.74 billion. However, the value of inflows still paled against those of comparable Southeast Asian peers.
It is worthy to note that FDI can benefit innovation activity in the country through reverse engineering. Advanced technology from developed countries could be obtained and then based on this establish domestic innovation capability and promote technological capacity building of local industries.
