The Philippine Commission Women has recognized the Department of Science and Technology as one of the leading national government agencies that exhibited notable efforts in pursuing gender equality and women’s empowerment within the organization and among its clientele.

The GADtimpala Citation (Gender and Development Transformation and Institutionalization through Mainstreaming of Programs, Agenda, Linkages and Advocacies) has been awarded to DOST during the 10th year anniversary of the Magna Carta of Women at the Philippine International Convention Center last August 14, 2019.  Dir. Elizabeth A. Fontanilla, the Director for GAD and Regional Support Service (GRSS) and the DOST-wide GAD Focal Person received the citation.  The GADtimpala award is part of the Incentives and Awards System mandated under Sec. 42 of RA 9710 or the Magna Carta of Women which provides that “there shall be established an and incentives and awards systems which shall be administered by a board under such rules and regulations as may be promulgated by the PCW to deserving entities, government agencies, and local government units for their outstanding performance in upholding the rights of women and effective implementation of gender-responsive programs”

The GRSS, as lead in DOST gender mainstreaming, is happy to share this recognition with the Regional Offices, especially the Regional GFPS and the members of the DOST Speaker’s Bureau from the regions who have contributed to its effective gender mainstreaming.  This accolade further strengthens the DOST-GRSS’ resolve to purposively undertake gender responsive programs, activities and projects to ensure that gender equality is achieved in DOST where men and women can contribute to and benefit from S&T development.
