DAVAO CITY, PHILIPPINES – The ASEAN-India Grassroots Innovation Forum and the ASEAN-India 2nd InnoTech Summit were hosted by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippines, in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology – India, Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), and the National Innovation Foundation (NIF) – India with support of the ASEAN-India Business Council on 20-22 November 2019 at the SMX Convention Center, Davao City.

The Department of Science and Technology-National Research Council of the Philippines (DOST-NRCP) is now accepting nominations for its prestigious annual awards – the NRCP Achievement Award, the Outstanding Institution Award, and the NRCP Member Emeritus Award.

Zamboanga' RSTW showcases Filipinos ingenuity. Zamboanga, among the country’s top producer of rubber tree, partnered with the Department of Science and Technology-Region IX to transform mature rubber tree into creative, functional pieces of furniture. These wood pieces were showcased at the three-day celebration of Zamboanga's Regional Science and Technology Week and Regional Invention Contest & Exhibits at the Palacio del Sur, Zamboanga City.

Blessed with rich natural resources, the Bicolanos will once again experience the feel of the different enabling technologies developed by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) that is poised to change their lives for the better.

The Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) celebration is one of the many follow-up events after the National Science and Technology Week held in Manila. DOST Region V is organizing the three-day event slated on 8-10 October 2019 to be held at the Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology (BISCAST) Gymnasium in Naga City, Camarines Sur.

Zamboanga entrep gives back to community. "Because of SETUP, we're able to improve our business, and we're able to help our community in return," says Ester A. Perez, owner of Baker's Field Enterprises at Guisao, Zamboanga City during the Technopreneurs Forum and Consultation. From one baker, Baker's Field now employs housewives, as well as out-of-school youth, in the community. Baker's Field is among the partners of the Department of Science and Technology-Region IX under its Small Enterprise Upgrading Program (SETUP) since 2015. The forum was held during the Regional Science and Technology Week in Marcian Garden Hotel, Zamboanga City from 9-11 September 2019.
