Ifugao is one of the eight identified Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs) in the country of the Department of Science and Technology - Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI).

The identified area has recorded ‘persistent malnutrition’ among infants and young children, and was listed as priority area for the department’s Complementary Food Production Facilities (CFPF).

CFPF in Ifugao State University (IFSU) will soon showcase its products thru the 2021 National Science and Technology Week’s (NSTW) webinar on November 26, 2021, 10:00 AM to 12:00 NN.

Filipinos will get to watch some short videos featuring Siargao’s diverse flora and fauna species in the coming 2021 DOST National Science and Technology Week (NSTW).

The video animation, which creatively showcases the funded basic research results, aims to foster science culture among the youth, community members, and even officials from the local government units (LGUs).

The Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute, together with the Goethe-Institut Philippines, will be screening the 12th annual Science Film Festival for free at this year’s National Science and Technology Week, from November 22 to 28, 2021. 

Since 2005, the Science Film Festival has been celebrating science communication in Southeast Asia and is now the largest event of its kind in the world. This year’s festivities include 35 science edutainment films—on topics ranging from cloud computing and biology to climatology and epidemiology—tied together by the theme, “Better Health Through Better Understanding.” The festival looks back on the challenges and milestones the world has faced in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, empowering viewers to take better care of themselves and the environment. 

With the aim of enjoining solidarity towards equal representation and maintaining the reputation of being a non-discriminatory agency, the Department of Science and Technology XI (DOST-XI) successfully conducted a two-day Gender Sensitivity and Use of Gender Fair Language Webinar last 8-9 November 2021 with over 150 attendees from within and outside Davao region.

As the lead agency tasked to monitor the country’s science, technology and innovation activities particularly research and development, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has carried out nationwide surveys to collect data on financial and human resources devoted to R&D.
