The Department of Science and Technology Regional Office I (DOST-I), together with the Philippine Information Agency Region 1 (PIA 1) recently aired the 2021 Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits (RICE) through the program “Kapihan sa Ilocos”, that feted the best of the best in Filipino inventions and innovations in the region.

Beekeeping has become a promising enterprise for communities in Nagbukel and Quirino in Ilocos Sur because of science, technology, and innovation.

The beekeeping enterprise is expected to provide a source of alternative and sustainable livelihood to armed-conflict-affected communities utilizing existing potentials and resources with the help of the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office 1. This initiative, being implemented through the Provincial Science and Technology Center Ilocos Sur, is referred to as the Bee Industry Science and Technology Support (BISTS) project. 

Publiscience, a science for community project, is an online publication that combines ‘public’ and ‘science’ that came out to become a comprehensive student-research journal spearheaded by the Philippine Science High School in Western Visayas Campus (PSHS-WCC) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). 

This journal is committed to publish the work of scholars headed by Dr. Aris Larroder, adviser and national science teacher together with Grade 12 scholars, student-researchers, and teachers.

3 MSMEs in Negros Occidental guided with DOST’s financial aid intervention

The annual celebration of the National Science and Technology Week scheduled from 22-28 November 2021 will banner the many achievements of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that embrace science, technology, and innovation to improve their operation and market competitiveness. 

In this week-long celebration, the virtual stage will again be shared with the different adopters who have benefitted from the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program being implemented by DOST through the regional offices across the country. In fact, with the many achievements of the program when it was launched in 2002, there are three outstanding enterprises in Region 6 that have their own success stories to tell.

Bicutan, Taguig City – Secretary Fortunato T. de la Peña of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) met with Teddy G. Monroy, the Country Representative of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in the Philippines last 08 November 2021.
