The Technology Application and Promotion Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-TAPI) enters a new chapter with the welcoming of its newly appointed director through the person of Atty. Marion Ivy D. Decena.
Atty. Decena is one of the first certified patent valuation analysts (CPVA) in the Philippines and is one of the few recognized CPVAs in Southeast Asia.
She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from Catanduanes State University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
She also holds a Master of Management degree from Leyte Normal University and a Certificate in Science and Technology Program from the Asian Institute of Management.

DOST-SEI extends deadline for Indie-Siyensya filmmaking plum

Science filmmaking competition, Indie-Siyensya, is extending the deadline for submission of film entries to October 30, 2021.
The contest, organized by the Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI), is open to all Filipinos who may join as individuals or in groups.

DOST Isabela trains Dinapigue farmers on organic fertilizer production

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) – Provincial Science and Technology Center (DOST-PSTC Isabela), in partnership with the National Irrigation Administration- Isabela Irrigation Management Office (NIA-Isabela IMO), recently trained farmers of Barangay Dibulo, Dinapigue, Isabela on “Organic Fertilizer and Production of Natural Farm Inputs”. This initiative supports the Organic Agriculture Act 10068, an act providing for the development and promotion of organic agriculture in the Philippines and other purposes.
Organic fertilizers are fertilizers that are naturally produced and contain carbon. For its function, fertilizers are materials that can be added to soil or plants to provide more nutrients and sustain growth.

Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Undersecretary for Research and Development Dr. Rowena Cristina L. Guevarra highlighted that R&D outputs should be ‘genderized’, where both men and women can benefit from them.
“A gender lens will allow us to see the ways and processes from which gender issues and concerns stem. Not only the R&D community, but the entire Philippines Science Technology and Innovation landscape can be identified and addressed through our collaborative efforts.”
