Two weeks before the end of his term, Secretary Fortunato T. de la Peña made sure that his predecessor would have a lot to build on in terms of the implementation and the enhancement of various research and development (R&D) programs and technical services of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). 

The legacy and significant contributions of the country’s science department in the past six years have been immortalized through the 'Science for the People' book series.

On the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic two years ago, we quickly realized that having enough local experts in various fields related to science, technology, and innovation or STI is a big help to address pressing problems and issues.

After the challenge of President Rodrigo R. Duterte to double the human resources amidst the country’s fight against the pandemic, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is now hiring more researchers, scientists, and engineers to help government and industry craft and create and implement more science-based decisions and policies.

Cagayan Valley – As part of the  Lakas ng Siyensiya Season 4, ABS-CBN’s DZMM TeleRadyo will feature four Niche Centers in the Region (NICER) for Research and Development (R&D), five projects under the DOST Academe Technology-based Enterprise Development (DATBED) Program, and the Cauayan City Local Government Smarter City.

Included in the Niche R&D Centers are the Nueva Vizcaya State University’s Citrus Center, Isabela State University Main Campus Freshwater Fisheries R&D Center, Smart Water Infrastructure and Management (SWIM) R&D Center, and the Electromobility R&D Center of the Cagayan State University - Carig Campus.

DOST-MIMAROPA Regional Director Dr. Ma Josefina P. Abilay , Palawan State University (PSU) President Dr. Ramon Docto, with representatives from PSU, and Chair-designate of the PSU Board of Regents Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Commissioner Dr. Jo Mark Libre with the recipients of the WIMLMS— Le Dessert Cakes and Pastries, St. Ives Bakeshop, and Palawan Adventist Health Products.

Three food-based micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Palawan assisted by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) - MIMAROPA received a digitalization boost for their businesses after being provided with a Web-based Inventory Monitoring and Logistics Management System (WIMLMS) to streamline their operation for increase productivity.

Ito ang sinabi ni Dr. Renato U. Solidum Jr., ang DOST Undersecretary for Scientific and Technical Services at tumatayong Officer-in-Charge ng DOST-PHIVOLCS sa kanyang naging panayam sa segment ng “Bantay Bulkan” sa DOSTv. Aniya ang mga barangay na nasa paligid ng Bulkan Bulusan ay nasa labas naman ng tinatawag na apat na kilometrong permanent danger zone.
