Out of 165 overall participants, five students from STARBOOKS beneficiary schools earned whiz bee titles on 19 September 2024 at NYSTIF center stage.
Carmona National High School delegate Jan Patrick B. Gelasan was named the STARBOOKS Whiz Bee Champion at the 2024 National Youth Science, Technology, and Innovation Festival (NYSTIF) on 19 September 2024, held at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.
The STARBOOKS Whiz Bee is the biggest Science and Mathematics competition that challenged Grade 10 students from STARBOOKS beneficiary schools in the National Capital Region (NCR), CALABARZON, and Central Luzon.

Students Lloy Gladwin, Jonavel Adawe, Samantha Samson, and Yael Solimen, coached by Leo Dacumos from the Philippine Science High School - Cordillera Administrative Region Campus, found a creative way to tell science stories through their app, Telling Science Top Down.
The app won first prize in Salinlahi Evolution, an app development competition organized by the Department of Science and Technology – National Academy of Science and Technology (DOST-NAST) in collaboration with the Philippine Amusement and Entertainment Corporation (PAEC).

Ms. Ma. Lotuslei Dimagiba of DOST-STII introduced DOSTv (Science for the People) programs in the content viewing on the 1st day of NYSTIF on the 18th of September 2024.
New season teasers of DOSTv programs’ Expertalk and Siyensikat were presented among youth participants of the National Science, Technology, and Innovations Festival (NYSTIF) on 18 September 2024 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Pasay City.
These educational-oriented programs produced by DOSTv aim to showcase the practical applications of Science, Technology, and Innovations in daily life, while also sharing inspiring stories of NextGen Filipino Scientists who are pushing boundaries to promote Science-based solutions and opportunities.

At the beginning of the tech forum organized by the Department of Science and Technology-Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI) titled "BEYOND MEASURE: The Basics of Metrology", the host, Science Research Specialist II Janesky O. Esplana, asked the participants if they were familiar with the term "metrology." Only a few participants raised their hands, with Esplana noting that some might even confuse metrology with meteorology, which is a different branch of science.

Some of the country’s well-known science communicators eagerly shared with students what motivates them to write and create stories that highlight the benefits of science and technology in the lives of every Filipino.
During "Kwentuhan with SciComm Idols," a two-hour forum organized by the Department of Science and Technology-Science and Technology Information Institute (DOST-STII) as part of the 2024 National Youth Science, Technology, and Innovation Festival (NYSTIF), invited journalists, content creators, and practitioners emphasized that creating science content across various platforms is worthwhile despite its challenges.
