EdukSine Production Corporation, a Filipino startup in the creative industries sector, has been selected as one of the finalists for the WIPO Global Awards 2024.
The WIPO Global Awards celebrates and recognizes exceptional enterprises that make smart use of intellectual property (IP) to commercialize their products and services while positively contributing to society through innovation and creativity.
WIPO launched its Awards program to invite small businesses and startups from various industries worldwide to compete for the award. The winners will receive tailored mentoring on strategies for the commercialization of IP assets, international promotion and visibility, sponsored travel expenses to attend the prestigious Awards Ceremony and networking events in Geneva, and access to WIPO network and resources for IP management advisory.

Dolor visits the science, technology, and innovation exhibit in the Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week celebration by DOST-MIMAROPA held in Calapan City Convention Center, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro on 7-9 May 2024.
The Department of Science and Technology - MIMAROPA Region (DOST-MIMAROPA) celebrated its Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW) at Calapan City Convention Center, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro on 7-9 May 2024.
With the theme, “Siyensya, Teknolohiya at Inobasyon: Kabalikat sa Matatag, Maginhawa at Panatag na Kinabukasan”, DOST-MIMAROPA Regional Director Maria Josefina P. Abilay in her welcome remarks conveyed the integral aspects of science, technology, and innovation in the island region of MIMAROPA particularly in Oriental Mindoro.

DOST and Mapua University launch Php15M weather forecasting system to combat La Niña

The Department of Science and Technology and Mapua University launched on Friday, May 31, 2024, a 24/7 localized weather information and impact monitoring system to help the country prepare for the onslaught of the coming La Niña.
Developed by Mapúa University School of Civil, Environmental and Geological Engineering led by Dr. Francis Aldrine Uy and supported by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD), this technology will help augment the disaster risk reduction and management operations as the country braces for La Niña.
“We believe that scientific advancements are not just about immediate responses to natural hazards and consequent disasters; they are about creating long-term solutions that reduce risks and promote sustainable development. As we face increasing disaster risks, we must move beyond traditional approaches and embrace innovations that provide solutions and open opportunities for a better tomorrow” DOST Secretary, Dr. Renato U. Solidum Jr. said.

DOST and PhilHealth aim to make health benefit packages and services more accessible to Pinoys

Aiming to extend access to a full range of quality health services to more Filipinos, the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (DOST-PCHRD) along with the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), showcased three studies during the Talakayang HeaRT Beat press conference on 29 May 2024 in Quezon City.

We at the DOST remain dedicated in supporting the research needs of PhilHealth to sustain the implementation of healthcare policies that are inclusive and attuned to the needs of our people.” said DOST Secretary Renato U.
