With the goal of strengthening research and development (R&D) in secondary and higher education, the Department of Science and Technology in Region XI (DOST-XI) conducted a webinar titled, “In Focus: Davao’s Research Agenda” on 12 November 2021 held virtually in Zoom platform and Facebook Live.

For this event, resource speaker, Dr. Rochelle Papasin, Special Science Teacher V and Research Coordinator of the Philippine Science High School, Southern Mindanao Campus (PSHS-SMC), presided over the webinar that aims to educate public and private senior high school teachers and students, state colleges and universities, as well as private colleges about the research agenda in Davao region in the light of the current pandemic.

Over 1,000 sweet-tooth and chocolate enthusiasts all over the country gathered virtually during the “Science of Chocolate” webinar organized by the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office XI (DOST XI) last 3 November 2021 via Zoom and Facebook Live. 

Participants ranging from students, teachers, government employees, entrepreneurs, as well as chocolate enthusiasts from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao have listened intently to this one-hour chocolaty webinar treat that talked about chocolates.

Offering a helping hand, the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office XI (DOST XI) through its DOST-Davao de Oro (DOST-DDO) offered training on Good Manufacturing Practices and Plant Layout Assessment training to help stakeholders comply with the food processing standard requirements to operate.

DOST XI together with DOST-DDO in partnership with the Davao de Oro State College (DDOSC) visited the Camarin Manlobong Taytayan Onion Farmers Association (CAMATOFA) in Brgy. Andap, New Bataan, Davao de Oro to assess the assistance to be given to this small group of onion farmers who shifted to cacao processing.

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected our ways of doing things and almost everything went online. The digital platform has become highly relevant for many sectors, from teaching, learning, working, training, and even in doing business.

To raise awareness and help netizens on the proper use of the tools, resources, and online platforms in the New Normal, the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office XI (DOST XI) will launch the “Digital Tayo” webinar series as part of the post-Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) virtual celebration in Davao Region.
