Mindanao sustainability requires the collective and united efforts of all stakeholders, staying true to the aspiration and vision: “A Land for all, today and tomorrow”, regardless of cultural and socioeconomic background where no one is deprived.  To attain this, knowledge and responsible governance will be imperative.

With this, the National Research Council of the Philippines of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-NRCP), together with the DOST Mindanao Regional Offices (IX, X, XI, XII, CARAGA, and BARMM), held the two-day virtual Mindanao Regional Future Earth Philippines Community Mobilization Workshop on 26 and 28 April 2021.

Grade 12 student Bryce Ainsley Sanchez of Grace Christian College bested over two dozen other finalists at the 23rd Philippine Mathematical Olympiad (PMO) held online last 19 and 20 March, earning the top title for the third year in a row. 

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) through the Office of the Assistant Secretary for International Cooperation hosted the third series of the EU-ASEAN Green Tech and Innovation Mapping Dialogue: Green Technologies for Plastic Value Chain Management Webinar Series last 29 April 2021 with the European Commission Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DGRTD). The webinar is supported by the Enhanced Regional EU-ASEAN Dialogue Instrument (E-READI) and the ASEAN Secretariat.

High school teachers in the country will now have better tools and gain easy access to educational materials in teaching the concept and the benefits of nuclear science and technology, particularly its positive impact on the lives of Filipinos. 

The Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (DOST-PNRI), with support from the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Department of Education, introduced to the public their recently developed Educational Resource Materials on Nuclear Science and Technology on 06 May 2021 via Facebook Live. 

Secretary Fortunato T. de la Peña of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) recently delivered his keynote address in the World Intellectual Property Organization’s (WIPO’s) side event to the United Nation’s STI Forum 2021 entitled “The Future of Post- COVID Innovation Finance – Global Innovation Index 2020/2021” last 03 May 2021.

Secretary de la Peña shared the Philippines’ national strategy called “Filipinnovation” which encourages the multi-stakeholder collaboration of the government, academe, research institutions, non-government organizations, industry, and civil society.
