To embrace advancement in technology, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)recently collaborated with Argentina's IMPSA and tackled the topic of Artificial Intelligence (AI) via video conference. 

The main focus of the discussion among the speakers from the DOST, Department of Energy (DOE), and IMPSA included: 1) renewable energy development and policies, 2) AI working methodology, 3) neural networks and genetic algorithms and their application to the industry, 4) AI early detection of anomalies in hydroelectric power plant equipment, and 5) DOST’s initiatives on AI. 

Recently, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) had a productive dialogue with representatives from the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship, and INVAP Company to discuss the peaceful applications of nuclear energy in medicine, agriculture, and energy production

The bilateral talk was led by Ambassador Linglingay Lacanlale of the Philippine delegation and Augusto Ceasar Granada, Argentina's Chargé d' Affaires in the Philippines, who headed the Argentine delegation.

APARRI, Cagayan, Philippines – As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity, the Department of Science and Technology Region II (DOST-II) gave 85 essential relief packs and 10 units of Multi-Purpose Drying facility last 21-23 May 2021 at Sitio Naguilian, Barangay Fuga Island.

Fuga is one of the islands located north of Luzon, part of the Babuyan Archipelago, and  a far-flung barangay in Aparri, Cagayan. It is accessible by boat and is 3-4 hours from Claveria town. 

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, La Union –The Department of Science and Technology Regional Office I (DOST-I) spearheaded a 3-day virtual technology pitching session of locally-developed technologies from the DOST-Planning Sectoral Councils and Research and Development Institutes (RDIs) that was held recently via the virtual platform Microsoft Teams.

It has been more than a year since the COVID-19 pandemic devastated the world, affecting the global economy and altering lives. The Philippines was not spared, and the nation has been hit hard. With the virus claiming more than 20,000 lives and the total number of cases is still climbing past the one million mark, there is a need to intensify our efforts in battling this highly infectious disease.
