The Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) Science Nation Tour: Agham na Ramdam makes its Western Visayas stop in Iloilo City, the Philippines’ “City of Love,” from February 22-24, 2016.  

Science Nation Tour is a nationwide roadshowwhich aims to showcase DOST-developed scientific and technological advancements in every region of the country and make every Juan and Maria feel the impact of science and technology in their daily lives, hence the tagline “AghamnaRamdam”.

With the worsening traffic situation in the metro, various sectors banded together to address the problem and came up with solutions to declog metro roads. At the same time, the solutions are geared to make the cityscape greener, and more livable and conducive to healthy living.

Launched this Sunday, February 7, 2016, the multi-agency campaign called  Bayanihan sa Daan (Road Sharing) Movement encourages commuters to reduce their dependence on cars and opt for healthier alternatives like walking, biking and the use of an efficient, eco-friendly mass transportation system.

The DOST Hybrid Electric Road Train participated in the Bayanihan sa Daan Movement road sharing exercise on February 7, 2016 as it went on a 5.5 kilometer demo run from the SM Mall of Asia grounds to the Luneta Park and back.  Bayanihan sa Daan showcased the idea of sharing the road using highly efficient alternative mass transport system like the DOST Road Hybrid Electric Road Train, a Filipino developed mass transport vehicle that runs both on diesel fuel and electricity using a 300kVA generator with 260 motor vehicle batteries. With more than a thousand expected attendees and participants, the Science Nation Tour: AghamnaRamdam will run in South Central Mindanao, more popularly known as SOCCSKSARGEN, on 16-18 February this year.

“The Science Nation Tour is a national roadshow aimed at making science felt by the average Filipino people down to the grassroots- to the last mile primarily thru massive promotion and expansion of programs, projects and services of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) throughout the country,” explained the DOST XII Regional Director, Dr. Zenaida P. HR Laidan. “DOST Secretary Mario Montejo will lead the cause to showcase DOST developed scientific and technological advancements in the country.”
