The Department of Science and Technology Regional Office XI (DOST XI) has begun the distribution of 15,000 units of face shields to medical and non-medical frontliners in Davao Region. Among the recipients of the face shields are health workers, security forces, and local government units (LGUs).

 

Countless hours have been spent by our premier scientists, engineers, and medical experts just to protect us from the possible harm caused by Coronavirus Disease or COVID-19. Several innovative science and technology (S&T) solutions have been initiated and developed that would give the public a better chance to win against this pandemic.

Adapting to the 'new normal', the Department of Science and Technology XI (DOST XI) successfully conducted its two-day 1st Quarter Virtual Management Review on June 22-23, 2020.

The Department of Science and Technology Region XI (DOST XI) turned over two units of specimen collection booths (SCBs) to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) in Davao City on June 23, 2020. These SCBs will serve as protective barrier between the medical frontliner and the suspected COVID-19 patient. Positive Pressure is maintained inside the booth using a pressure sensor to prevent outside contamination from getting inside the booth.

Prior to SARS-CoV-2 virus and Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) period, some students in the provinces get to appreciate science because of the Science Explorer and nuLab buses of the Science Education Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-SEI).
